kaykrebs@mac.com  Kay was appointed to serve as Pastor of Deer Park UMC on July 1, 2007. She is a recent graduate of Iliff School of Theology, where she earned a Master's of Divinity Degree with Distinction. Previously she earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin and a Master's of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago. Her first and second careers were as a research scientist and director of new business development for Kimberly-Clark Corporation (makers of KLEENEX Tissue and HUGGIES Diapers). Her third career was as an entrepreneur. She is the founder and co-owner of three privately held businesses.
For over a decade, Kay has made her home near Bailey Mountain. She enjoys spinning, weaving, reading, music, and cutting and splitting firewood. She has been engaged in original research on the Sand Creek Massacre and in developing strategies for turning around declining mainline religious organizations. She serves as President of the Iliff Alumni/ae Association Board and as Secretary of the Life Quality Institute, a non-profit organization affiliated with The Denver Hospice that is dedicated to advancing palliative care in the state of Colorado. She lives with two companions, irish setter Rudy and miniature dachshund Rose, and she shares a John Deere Gator named Allie with Linda and Peter Chase. (Last person standing gets to keep the Gator.)
| Vivian Hiestand
Pastor vivian@living-prayer.com Vivian is a stud ent at the Iliff School of Theology, where she is enrolled in the Master of Divinity program and is a candidate for ordination in the United Methodist Church. She is serving Deer Park as part of her Advanced Field Education requirements for ordination. She is certified in Spiritual Direction with credentials from the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation, where she studied with Tilden Edwards, Rosemary Dougherty and Gerald May. With her husband, John, she has led Taize services for over 15 years. She created and leads an annual ecumenical Retreat in the Taize Tradition at the Alton L. Collins Retreat Center (UMC), located in the foothills east of Portland, Oregon. Before her call to spiritual direction, Vivian earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the Peninsula Conservatory of Music (Burlingame, CA), and performed leading roles in operas and operettas throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. She spent many years performing, directing and producing musicals and operettas, establishing several nonprofit organizations over the years which are still in existence. She and her husband have two grown sons, Jon and Jeff, and had the joy of performing Jeff's wedding (to new daughter-in-law) Anne Marie this past August. | Carol Grove Administrator office@deerparkumc.org Carol sta rted working at Deer Park UMC in June 2006. She usually works on Mondays and Thursday 9 am to 2 pm. In addition to preparing Sunday’s Worship bulletin, keeping the church records, publishing the directory, scheduling the church calendar, providing administrative support to the Church Council and Ministries, handling phone requests, and whatever else anyone needs done, Carol serves as the coordinator of Vacation Bible School. She has an Associates of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education from Arapahoe Community College in Littleton, Colorado. After working for Hugh M. Woods Lumber Company for 10 years and Safeco Insurance Company for 19 months, she decided to stop working and become a stay at home mom. Carol is a 5th generation native Coloradoan and moved to Bailey in December of 2003, when the house they built was completed. She has been married to her high school sweetheart, Kendall for 17 years and they have two wonderful children, Alexandria who is 11 and Colton who is 8. She enjoys scrapbooking, reading, music and spending time with her family. She is the Co-Leader and cookie mom for Alex’s Girl Scout Troop. She will be helping with the Popcorn sales for Colton’s Boy Scout Pack. She volunteers in the elementary school and PTA and works part time at Risen Lord Lutheran Church in Pine, CO.
