Linda Browning has been a lifelong United Methodist and musician, beginning with piano lessons as a child. In high school she accompanied and sang in choir, played in the band, and was her church's organist. In college she continued piano and voice lessons and minored in music and philosophy and religion. Since then she has sung for excellent directors in church, university, and community choruses in Illinois and Colorado. A member of Deer Park United Methodist Church since 1999, she chooses the hymns and special music and directs the No Limits Choir, Psalm 150 Orchestra, and Bailey Brass, and fills in as organist when needed. She says, "It is a privilege to make beautiful music, and especially to do so to praise God!"

Responsible for the overall coordination, encouragement and growth of the individual ministry committees that make up church government.  While the ministry committees are all responsible and empowered to act on their own in the best interests of the church, the Church Council provides a small degree of oversight to these essential groups.

The Church Council meets the 2nd Sunday of each month and as needed, all church members are welcome to attend.

The Outreach committee is dedicated to putting Christian faith into action by providing a range of charitable activities at the local, state, country and world levels.  The church is active in the 285 Corridor and is in partnership with other churches in the area.  Our activities include the Interfaith Food Pantry, Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets, Share the Care, SERRV and prayer shawls.

Carol started working at Deer Park UMC in June 2006. She usually works on Mondays and Wednesdays 9 am to 12 pm. In addition to preparing Sunday’s Worship bulletin, keeping the church records, publishing the directory, scheduling the church calendar, providing administrative support to the Church Council and Ministries, handling phone requests, and whatever else anyone needs done, Carol serves as the coordinator of Vacation Bible School. She has an Associates of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education from Arapahoe Community College in Littleton, Colorado. After working for Hugh M. Woods Lumber Company for 10 years and Safeco Insurance Company for 19 months, she decided to stop working and become a stay at home mom.

 

Carol is a 4th generation native Coloradoan and moved to Bailey in December of 2003, when the house they built was completed. She has been married to her high school sweetheart, Kendall for 19 years and they have two wonderful children, Alexandria who is 13 and Colton who is 10. She enjoys scrapbooking, reading, music and spending time with her family. She is the Co-Leader and cookie mom for Alex’s Girl Scout Troop. She also works part time at Risen Lord Lutheran Church in Pine, CO.
